GITEX GaLOBAL 2024 – Dubai to Host the World’s Largest Tech Event
Today marks the official start of GITEX GLOBAL 2024, the world’s largest tech and startup event hosted in the UAE. This year, the event enters its 44th edition under the theme ‘Global Collaboration to Forge a Future AI Economy. |
The event brings together tech giants, startups, governments, investors, experts, and academic institutions from over 180 countries. It aims to redefine the global digital economy and artificial intelligence (AI) landscape.
Running alongside GITEX is Expand North Star at Dubai Harbour, recognized as the world’s largest startup and investment gathering, from October 13-16. Earlier this month, Pakistan was honored as ‘Tech Destination of the Year’ in relation to the event.
Global Participation and Strategic Goals
Over 6,500 exhibitors, including 1,800 startups and 1,200 investors, are participating, reflecting a nearly 40% increase in international presence this year.
Trixie LohMirmand, Executive Vice President of DWTC, highlighted the event’s strategic importance, stating, “At GITEX GLOBAL in Dubai, we shall close the year with significant maneuvers from our tech community by doubling down on global collaborations and intensive engagements among all involved. Through these efforts, we shall forge competitive advantages in the race towards regional and international digital supremacy.”
Focus on the AI Economy
The event focuses heavily on the AI economy, projected by Fortune Business Insights to reach $621 billion in 2024 and expand to $2.7 trillion by 2032. More than 3,500 enterprises will showcase advancements in AI, IoT, data, and cloud technologies.
Ammar Al Malik, Executive Vice President of Commercials at TECOM Group PJSC, emphasized Dubai’s innovation-friendly environment, calling “GITEX GLOBAL is a springboard to unlock this potential,” particularly highlighting Dubai Internet City’s pivotal role.
Event Highlights
GITEX GLOBAL will feature over 120 hours of AI and deep tech content, exploring themes such as Future Health, Digital Finance, and EdTech. The event also includes the region’s largest Data Centre Symposium, featuring industry leaders like Datalec, Khazna, and Schneider Electric.
Expand North Star aims to connect innovative founders with new markets and investors, featuring over $1.2 trillion in Assets Under Management. Co-located events like GITEX Impact and Fintech Surge will also redefine finance, blockchain, and creativity.
