Attention Pakistanis – UAE Announces A Simplified Work Visa Process
Pakistani nationals seeking work visas for the UAE must now provide a Police Character Certificate as part of the application process. This new rule, introduced by the UAE government, aims to address concerns over illegal activities involving some individuals. The certificate must be secured before proceeding with protector registration, as confirmed by the Bureau of Emigration & Overseas Employment (BEOE).
A notification from the BEOE states:
“A letter received from the Pakistan Airports Authority on the aforementioned subject conveyed the directive to require a Police Character Certificate from individuals intending to emigrate to the UAE before proceeding with protector registration.”
Stricter Regulations to Tackle Unlawful Activities
The UAE and Pakistan authorities have tightened visa regulations to combat illegal practices such as begging, which have led to a tarnished reputation for Pakistani nationals abroad. Adnan Paracha, Vice Chairman of the Pakistan Overseas Employment Promoters Association (POEPA), confirmed that the new condition follows reports of such incidents.
Paracha also revealed:
“The UAE has expanded its list of cities subject to a visit visa ban from 24 to 30 Pakistani cities.”
Challenges for Job Seekers
The new requirements come amid ongoing difficulties in securing work visas for the UAE. Over 100,000 Pakistanis were unable to obtain employment in the Gulf nation in the past year, further highlighting the impact of the stricter visa policies.
Despite the challenges, the UAE remains a popular destination for global job seekers, offering modern cities, a luxurious lifestyle, and iconic landmarks like the Burj Khalifa and Abu Dhabi’s cultural treasures.
Authorities urge Overseas Employment Promoters (OEPs) to inform applicants about the new requirements to ensure compliance and avoid delays.
